People who needed me to expalin the difference between socialism and communism five minutes ago on their way to tell me socialism can’t work despite not knowing the difference five minutes ago. (Literally happened to me yesterday)

Don’t even try, an very basic defintion fo what capitalism is debunks this. “Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their use for the purpose of obtaining profit”, In feudalism the feudal lords just won land not really the tools so peasants are not employed by them they are just landlords sort of. Protocommunism doesn’t even have that caveat. Tradesmen also usally owned their own tools. You don’t need the communist manifesto to debunk this you need basic logic.

I haven’t noticed this being the general consensus among leftists. Generally leftists dont’ care for copyright. As in practice it’s just used to stiffle art and generate profit for the bougiose. My objection to ai is that specially in a capitalist society it’s a net negative to society. I kinda agree with kavernacle in that it should not be easily accessible for public use. It’s just going to lead to the degredation of culture. People are going to start using ai, to do personal things like write speeches for weddings. And in a capitalist systme it will inveitably lead to the destruction of art on a larger corporate scale. As AI slop is more profitable. There might still be some actual art going on but it will lead to the further sloppifying of media content that has been going on in the last decade or so.

Most memes atleast graphical ones do not come from art. They come from photos and pictures of people tv shows or internet clips. The ones that aren’t this usualyl are just simple edits of photos like the socially awkward penguin meme. Of the ones I can think of the creator was either a part of the community it becmae popular in and had no probelm with ti becoming a meme (troll face), or created it for use in the same way it is used now (epic face). Pepe is an example of one that became adopted as a very popular meme but the creator ahd no involvement in it being adopted and they seem fine with it. There is defintiely some very morally questionable thigns involving memes but turning art into memes is not one of them. Also it’s just not ip theft. It completely falls under fair use. And is often jsut literally sharing the image like troll face or epic face.

For me when the morally questionable parts come in it’s when you turn people into memes. Like Hawk tauh girl.

As someone who has severe truama from self-diagnosis, I have to say self-diagnosis is not a good idea and i highly discourage it. Even if you have expertise you will not fully be able to understand things from your own perspective cause pesronal bias exists. and the more ocmplicated the condition is the worse of an idea it is. I read a study once that tested people who self-daigonsed themselves with autism for autism. Only 20% got diagnosed with autism after assessment. Self-diagnosing and presenting yourself as having something you do not have can also cause lots of wider social issues. It’s wild to me so amny peopel support self-diagnosis like this when it’s so widely considered to be a bad thing by medicine and science. To be clear ther eis a difference between self-diagnosis and saying you suspect you have x disorder though. There is a reason doctors aren’t allowed ot diagnose thmeselves. It’s wild to me that people on the internet think that not only can they do that but htey can do it better than professionals who use psychometric testing among other things to diagnose these conditions.
