On November 30th, Hondurans voted to choose their next President, as well as deputies to the Congress, councillors, and other candidates. Like all elections in Latin America, the looming shadow of American intervention will be a major factor in deciding the winner. In this election, that intervention has been fairly naked, with Trump literally stating who he wishes to win (the far-right nationalist guy, Nasry Asfura). Asfura has said that if he does not win, American funding to the country will dry up - a clear threat - and Trump has additionally pardoned the former Honduran president and US ally Juan Orlando Hernández, imprisoned for smuggling cocaine into the US.
The other candidates in this election are Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party, who is essentially running on the same platform as Asfura with some differences (such differences would inevitably vanish if he were to win); and Rixi Moncada of the progressive (self-described as democratic socialist) LIBRE Party. The narrative about this election is - try not to yawn - the neverending battle of democracy against communism. This narrative is obviously very important to uphold in the current environment of accelerated aggression against Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and others.
Who is going to win? As of me writing this sentence, the results have not yet been fully reported. However, there has been something of a scandal in regards to a plot - with recorded voices, though those guilty plead AI tampering - to show the best possible preliminary results for the right wing, so as to manipulate the narrative and morale of the population. The idea, is presumably, that if LIBRE were to win, the fascists could say “How did LIBRE go from 20% of the vote (which is what the preliminary results showed) to a victory?! It must be communist meddling!”
Of course, it’s entirely possible that LIBRE won’t win anyway, or get particularly close. We shall see how things turn out very shortly.

Reuters followed the fortunes of a group of raw recruits who enlisted as part of Ukraine’s drive to refresh its depleted ranks.
Of the eleven soldiers Reuters monitored, all recruited this spring and with what were likely good conditions of service as young volunteers:
- Four are dead or missing;
- Two deserted; and
- Five are permanently injured.
Wow, Ukraine surely has very low casualty rates. I definitely believe that a whole 46,000 Ukrainians have been killed in the entire war, a very believable number.

Azov is probably still mostly intact. There were reports that they are just refusing to fight. They were great at their jobs of killing defenseless civilians after 2014. I guess Azov are the modern Dirlewanger Brigade.

Not just recruiting. Azov brigade is a whole different organisation now. The National Guard of Ukraine was reformed this year into 2 Corps. Azov First Corps and Khartiia Second Corps was made from several different nazi groups. This is the entire National Guard of Ukraine numbering 160,000.
My guess is that there were always very few. We just put them into positions of power with zero opposition.
Azov Nazis need to be placed into positions of civil society or else Ukraine might rediscover peace on its own.

The US refused because their goal is to install their own puppet. They are on a tight geopolitical schedule and can’t afford to wait and come back later if (when) Chavismo prevails in the “new elections.”

Very notable that Europe has no seat at the table. During WW2 it was Franklin D. Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill. Not anymore. Europe has no hard power of their own. Europe’s high tier air defence is American and Israeli, their stealth jets are American, even a lot of their nuclear weapons outside of the UK and France are American. Hard power ultimately decides outcomes.

Of course. But for this to work in terms of some sovereignty, Europe has to re arm and produce their own advanced technologies to deter, at least on some level. No stealth jet for another decade is not good. Being fully reliant on Patriot for intercepting tactical ballistic missiles until SAMP/T NG comes around is not good. Being fully reliant on US AEGIS ashore/SM-3 and Israeli Arrow 3 for intercepting Oreshnik class missiles is not good. Under this model, Europe can only fight when the US wants them too.
Even Denmark is having to buy Patriot now because of SAMP/T NG delays.
I honestly don’t see how Europe can become sovereign or why would the ruling class even want to. They’re perfectly happy storing their funds in foreign banks. People might become aware of what is happening eventually, but by that point are they gonna be able to do anything against military police? idk it seems really grim I’m trying to be optimistic, but I don’t see any realistic hopeful future, still I think we should at least try to be together in this and not give up.

Insane to me this isn’t a bigger story. The Trump detente with China is clearly real, there’s no other explanation for Wang Yi to be meeting with the Americans at a meeting ostensibly about Ukraine. Definitely feels like a Yalta Conference or something. If European was smart they’d realize they’re being thrown away like the dogs they are, and pair up with Russia again to get their industry back on track, but I am sure that ship has sailed.

Depends on what country really. Is this good news for Gaza, Iran, probably not. Taiwan and the Philippines? Depends on if it brings conflict/war with China closer or further away. Sub Saharan Africa? I don’t know, probably not great for South Africa, which usually means not great for the rest. I haven’t seen Russia or China backing up South Africa much from Trump’s attacks.

In my view, China and Russia are ceding influence in the Middle East to the USA, accepting it’s under US influence. Gaza peace plan gone through unopposed. Minimal military assistance to Iran before and during the war with Israel and US strikes, mainly supplying precursor chemicals for solid rocket fuel and buying lots of oil. US led mutual defence pacts, Saudi Arabia getting F-35s. I’m sure that China and Russia are expecting something in return though.
The US will use it to screw them over, especially PR-wise. But of course thinking the us will stay true to any treaty formally or informally was the downfall of a hundred nations. I guess it’s easier than assuring massive casualties and hardship on your populace in exchange for the sovereignty of Palestine and the Middle East.
