How do new issue shares not dilute others? This has been a gap in my knowledge for a while, because I often hold an antiquated model in my head thinking about these. Seems shares literally divide the company ownership among a certain number of shares which can be bought, so making new ones dilutes others. I see neolibs often saying shit implying this isn’t true. Is the claim that, because the price is the same, ROI doesn’t change, so there’s no dilution?
Hmm so yeah, I guess my model still works perfectly then, in this case. I guess to the vast majority of shareholders (who likely don’t hold the majority of shares) it is fine to ignore dilution.
