This whole narrative about people only caring about the Palestinian genocide and not caring about other genocides is really fuckin frustrating.

    I-was-saying

The Brunch Effect suppresses liberal involvement in action during Democrat presidencies and you see more pictures on social media now that social media exists…

True and I don’t think anyone is suggesting their government to do anything anyway. But some people there are disgusted and it has nothing to do with religion, and they are also expressing joy at videos of Iranian strikes. Maybe the normal Chinese folk aren’t paying as much attention

I mean, it is a matter of apocalyptic significance

Fucking evangelicals want Israel because they think Jesus won’t come back unless it’s there for the Antichrist to blow up

The same evangelicals who currently hold major sway in the US government

It’s not hard to put two and two together to see how it’s a significant factor in foreign policy

Jesus freaks get to fulfill their prophecy, the opportunistic ghouls get to kill people and take their stuff

Exactly, this iSSrael apocalypse cult is specifically an amerikkkan evangelical thing. It simply does not exist for Catholics, mainline Protestant, or other religions AFAIK. Outside of North America it’d be rightly considered to be a mental illness. The Zionists have their own fascist derangement but it’s mostly secular, if they don’t get to dominate the region they’ll just nuke everyone.

  • This is such bs argumentation. The whole point of critical support is the fact that you can, for example, criticize Chinese leadership for what (in my view) seems like a series of callous economic and diplomatic calculations that put Chinese stability and development of productive forces over international solidarity and fighting against apartheid and genocide.

I’m not even particularly affected by China’s foreign policy (in)actions, and I feel this way. I imagine someone who sees it collaborate with the perpetrators of their suffering would have even more reasons to withhold unconditional support. Does it mean I don’t support China at all, or don’t recognize its role as one of the few nations who can contribute to a better, fairer world? No.

Ignoring entirely the most obvious conclusion that it’s because Israel is a “western” ally and is being directly and publicly supported by the US, which is the global cultural and military hegemon. Therefore people in the US and its allies are more aware of Israeli crimes compared to other countries. If other ethnic cleansings received the same amount of media coverage and had the same US backing, I’m willing to bet they would also lead to support by “the left”.
