Friendly reminder that the legitimate creators of Disco Elysium do not receive a cent as royalties. They uploaded themselves their game to archive.org, where it is actually free without using epic launcher.
I just pirated it anyway but epic games seems to be fine? I got it to play fork-knife with my niblings and it seems to be just as shitty as steam
I think people have more of an issue with the owner of Disco Elysium than epic iirc
Yeah but it’s worth noting ZA/UM gets no additional benefit from anyone claiming the game here.
Someone in a different thread pointed out that they get metrics they use to justify to funders, downloads per month show that the company is viable and worth investing in.
I don’t know much about why the devs suck and pirate everything anyway
I assume everyone who’s tech literate enough already pirated it though. Literally everyone should play this game!
Ye same
They don’t disclose AI stuff. It’s also a bit harder to use on Linux.
It’s also a bit harder to use on Linux.
To be fair, Steam has a Linux-based hardware business now, so they’re pretty committed to making things Linux compatible
Ah fair enough I don’t buy games anyway lol
I would rather buy it from a sketchy dude named Travis ,who lives in a van, under a bridge, down by the river, who sells burned discs like it’s still 2005 instead of getting it for free from Epic.
Free is too expensive if the store is Epic
Does hexbear have a piracy community? Also how do you peeps feel about posting piracy site links here? Ya’ll are not IP pilled so I guess it’s ok? Or is there worry that it might lead to some takedown of the site?
Use dbzero for more hardcore piracy talk but it’s alright to talk about piracy here.

To all the Linux users our there- you can have Heroic Games Launcher install a full proton-like stack automatically for games you have on the Amazon, Epic, and GOG storefronts to make this less of a hassle to work.
If you’re tech savvy enough to use Linux, just get it for free from fitgirl-repacks dot site, setting it up in Heroic or Lutris is very straightforward.
Also check out Hydra Launcher. Be careful since it’s a piracy tool so use all due caution that you usually would for these things.
Yep, Lutris is dead simple and basically magic. I’m not your typical Linux user, I suck at computers, it’s a protest thing for me that’s like 60% political and 40% “I hate user hostile software and will actively choose alternatives that respect me”, and even I can figure out Lutris, most of the time.
Fitgirl installers always crash on wine for me. I like to get those repacks from cs.rin where you can just unzip and play.
I run the fitgirl installer thru proton by adding the installer as a “non-steam game” and then deleting it from my library after it installs. Way better than wine. It still crashes or freezes occasionally, but I’ve found dodi packs sometimes have better luck with my method.
I’ll echo ReadFanon’s comment. Hydra Launcher is open source and you can add trusted sources from https://hydralinks.cloud/ (old link, will redirect to the correct address)
Then you can use Heroic to run the installer before adding the game to it. I wish Hydra would have added Proton/umu support already so that you could just do everything from there, specially since it has achievement support.
Eyes peeled for Playnite to drop on Linux in the coming year
The fitgirl repack worked for me!
It’s still Epic games, though.
