The context is that he was posting on a news article about a fake police officer with SS tattoos carrying weapons to intimidate BLM protestors in Las Vegas.

In fairness to the banned user, another Hexbear user did call people ultras over this in another thread (I regret the time I have spent reading these threads).

I understand someone’s posting getting a little unhinged when this website produces a “come on guys maybe the nazi tattoo war criminal didn’t realize it was a nazi tattoo” struggle session. Disgraceful amerikkkanism.

To be fair, I didn’t recognize the symbol, but I’m also like a newborn when it comes to ppolitics. If someone told me a tattoo (on me or a friend) was a nazi symbol, I’d be immediately working to get it off my body and making sure my friend did the same (if they wanted to stay my friend, anyway). This guy being told he has a nazi tattoo and saying it’s just what you do in the military is very sus.

Yes, to be clear, I’m not accusing people who are simply actually unaware of it of anything. However, it’s an incredibly well-known symbol that the nazis used, maybe right behind the swastika and the SS symbol. Someone who is a politician and has had it tattooed on their body for 20 years could not be unaware of what it means.

It’s also already been shown through his deleted r*ddit posts defending other people’s SS tattoos that there’s no way he was unaware.

These posts in the OP are five years old, so he either:

                • did no introspection on his own tattoos at the time
                • learned he got a totenkopf and didn’t care

either way, lol. lmao even. DSA’s lack of demcent coming to bite them again for any of their socials ever platforming this unrepentant fash

I mean, yeah? You could maybe make the argument that some dumb bastard in 2006 joining the corps was too stupid to know better and just liked the aesthetic, but if you genuinely had some sort of ‘political awakening’, you’re telling me you still wouldn’t know what it means? Fascism is intertwined in history with basically all forms of left wing politics. And you KEPT it on?? If you don’t treat it like a malignant growth after your ‘awakening’, you’re either:

    1. Still a complete dumbass and not to be trusted
    2. A liar and DEFINITELY not to be trusted

Ed: Jesus I didn’t realize how ‘controversial’ this had become today. If you have a Nazi logo tatted on you and you claim to be politically literate, YOU CANNOT BE TRUSTED. The circumstances of getting it do NOT matter, especially if it is still on you.

Somehow the threads where a social fascist does some social fascist thing always get 200+ comments and become like this

I had a disagreement with a lib colleague of mine that even if the Nazi heads of NATO were telling the truth about having been forced to join the Nazis, it’s still an extremely powerful position to put someone who was a former Nazi.

I also tried asking him a very basic question, “If the former Nazis HAD joined the Nazi party willingly, are you saying you believe they’d admit that?” He didn’t want to answer that question and just kept reiterating that they said they were forced to. I told him regardless of what he believes, you don’t put people with that kind of awful background in major positions of power, that you don’t take that kind of risk (I would’ve pointed out that it’s because they were former Nazis that they were given their positions but that would’ve been delving deeper into history than they were clearly prepared for).

On top of all that, June 9th 2020 was maybe the most socially unacceptable white supremacist revisionism has been in amerikkka in its entire history. Like anyone caping for this shit on that date is irredeemable except through a reeducation camp.

This guy was a Blackwater mercenary as recently as 2018. At the very least, his decision-making ability is totally compromised and the man shouldn’t be trusted in a leadership position. I wouldn’t trust the guy even as a fellow rank-and-file member of an org.

At the worst, the guy’s an op.

Then again, in a choice between voting for a guy who might be a cryptofascist trying to infiltrate a nascent national leftist movement or the fucking centrist Governor of Maine for US senate, sorta a toss up.

Edit: lol. Claiming that there is no “conspiracy to infiltrate white supremacist in the Marine Corps.” Less of a conspiracy, more of a “comes with the territory.” It’s the raison d’etre of the entire Armed Forces, the entire fucking country even.

He says he’s a communist in one comment, but there’s no results for Mao, Lenin, Marx, Engels, Hasan, or dialectics.

He’s not a real communist, in other words. He appears to have no proper theoretical understanding of the ideology he claims. He’s like scientist who learned his science from pop science, instead of real schooling and textbooks. He’s a communist because some cool people historically that he saw on Reddit or in pop-history books were communist. This is exactly the kind of thing a progressive social Democrat would do.

He mentions he’s a DSA member, and that he canvases for progressive Democrats. A progressive Democrat is what he is if he was honest with himself, and did any research into communism, socialism, or capitalism.

He could have changed, read theory, and became a real communist over the past 4 years, but it’s pretty clear he hasn’t done that.

I don’t think that Graham Platner is claiming to be a communist anymore. He deleted the reddit account 3 months ago because he wanted to hide it. On October 17, he put out a video on his twitter account denouncing his reddit comments.

He’s running as a Berniecrat (unions, healthcare, housing, etc) but also against sending money to Israel. I think it would be foolish to think that he’s further Left than he’s claiming to be.

I don’t think he was a Hasan fan or Chapo or Trueanon. He did post Bill Burr a few times, which could mean anything. His main thing seemed to be posting on the Socialist Rifle Association subreddit.

A funny thing is that he used the Destiny-affiliated company to delete his reddit account. Destiny’s cohost Dan Saltman owns (redact dot dev) and was the former owner of TinyChat. Graham used redact to “delete” his reddit comments.

Seriously, HOW? It’s an incredibly common and well known symbol, not to mention anyone who looks at it without knowing it will instantly think that it looks like an ultra-right-wing thing, especially tattooed on a war criminal’s chest. I’m amazed that people apparently have never seen it. It’s literally in the incredibly well known “are we the baddies” sketch.

Combination of Americans are fucking stupid and so many think stuff like that sketch are going over the top.

Like those that think people in starship troopers are the good ones

  • A few notes. Yes, the SS tats and symbols are def a thing in the Marines, never saw them myself on anyone though. I can vouch for being young and dumb as a possibility for making stupid decisions and not knowing a lot of those symbols, and fascism is def baked into the cake in the US military. But decades later, no shot. Also, Croatian tattoo artists probably don’t offer non-Nazi skull and cross bones too often. But their history of being aligned with the Axis isn’t well known by the public.

At any rate, I can break down his explanation of the culture that he doesn’t get because he’s too stupid.

Groups of young men become psychologically damaged by doing horrific things that they’re lead to believe are good. Their own nature struggles to reconcile doing wrong while thinking they’re doing right. This creates an emotionally volatile state that could be described as neuroses. Many turn to drinking, heavily, further dulling their mental faculties. They do so together and trauma bond while never actually discussing the energy it takes to not recognize the cognitive dissonance. They encourage each other in all of these behaviors and reinforce them amongst each other, leading to further mental and emotional instability, and further efforts to supress it. Feeling like they belong to something exclusive that backs up their sense of being a self-sacrificing hero easily draws them in due to their emotionally vulnerable state, so they’ll go along with whatever symbolic tradition that makes them feel like they’re in the club. Repeat ad nauseum.

In short, they’re a high school clique that murders people and everyone in it becomes an alcoholic because they’re mentally stunted by their occupation.

It’s that fucking simple, there’s no mystery. This is just hand waiving away reality and the idea that there’s anything wrong about what they do.

The first red flag was being a marine, the branch that people join to commit warcrimes. Yes, all members of the US military are imperialist lapdogs, but there are levels to it. “I’m too poor, so I’ll sign up to become an imperialist lapdog because I need money” is for people in the army and navy. It’s like how there’s a difference between being signing up to become a detective working in some city police department and signing up to join ICE.
