I did that and for a while as an adult cause I grew up poor and then I just thought you needed that much room when I was buying my own shoes lol
Poor too actually the most annoying thing was finding any shoes wide enough, if I got normal ones it wouldn’t be long before they ripped from the sides.

You are thinking of too little room. Your thinking oh a comfy amount of room so your not pinching, what did she mean that sounds good. This is much less than what I was bought when I was a child (cause I would grow into it in a year or so and thats what we could afford), and it was less than I was buying myself (cause I thought thats just what one does).
