food@hexbear.net•something disturbingly American about having to specify that the beans are vegetarianEnglish
3·3 days agoI don’t eat things made with lard. Some vegetarians eat cheese, but they likely aren’t picking and choosing based on morals. Those who abstain and vegans aren’t picking and choosing what to include either.

food@hexbear.net•something disturbingly American about having to specify that the beans are vegetarianEnglish
3·3 days agoYep, Vegetarians and vegans are not a single org with unified reasons or bounds. Some people merely eat a vegetarian diet, some people try to abstain from all animal products including honey, beeswax, leather, dyes, glues, shells, some medicicinal binders, etc.
It is impossible to avoid ALL animal byproducts or exploitation in the modern age, however. One must draw the line somewhere: do you salvage a corpse you encounter on a hike, do you use chalk or concrete, do you have a phone with a camera, do you eat coconuts, do you support certain types of criminal forensics, do you wear tattoos, etc?

food@hexbear.net•something disturbingly American about having to specify that the beans are vegetarianEnglish
5·4 days agoLard is animal fat tissue, not a secretion, but an actual animal derived product.
There are different reasons why people become vegetarian or vegan: religious, moral, health, taste, cost. The particular reason will govern how strict someone is, but by and large lard is out.

45·4 days agoVegetarian in this case indicates the beans were not prepared with lard or other animal derived products during the cooking stage. It does not denote that the beans were fed an animal free diet.

That is over 7 times my car payment.
With that kinda car payment I could pay down in 3 months.
You could buy a shitty beater one month, a different one the next month, then alternate between them while covering repairs for the other for basically the same payment each month.
Sometimes you just gotta take a deuce in some discarded tires though, ya know?
This provides a buffer for us of safety. My wife is at home frequently by herself, either during the day or sometimes at night, and as a result this provides safety for her, but also provides safety for the community.
You’re so threatened by the existence of 1/5th of a mile of public road that you need to seize ownership of it? Why don’t you retreat into your 100+ acre private compound and leave the rest of us whose housing directly abuts public roads or is stacked in tight construction with NO parking options alone?
You have cars trying to turn around, you’ve got bicycle riders trying to turn around, you’ve got pedestrians trying to turn around, you’ve got people pushing baby strollers trying to turn around. It’s just unsafe.
Are they trying and just can’t so they are still there to this day piling up? Or are they succeeding after a 3-5 point turn and would be better served by the seizure of a minuscule portion on the edge of your land to build a roundabout to help them get out of your hair (and boot shaking fear) sooner? “It’s just unsafe” how? Fucking prove how a person turning their baby stroller around and leaving the immediate vicinity of your property is so unsafe you need to seize 1/5th of a mile of public road to set your mind at ease.

10·1 month agoUnironically, the idea of God being a perfect judge leads to the idea that it’s okay to kill people because you’re just shipping them to God who will perfectly deal with them.
That’s why so many people still support the death penalty and one reason why idgaf about anyone’s “holy book.”

McCormick simply wanted to honor [fascist Nazi] Kirk … It wasn’t political until the [store manager] made it that way.
No it wasn’t political until an edgy teen decided to “honor” a good fascist Nazi. The manager simply did what all sensible people should do when asked to honor fascist Nazis.
The store bent over and succumbed to the Karen calling corporate management. I kinda feel like I should call corporate management and let them know I don’t like their treatment of fascist Nazis.

14·2 months agoThat’s … literally the point.
Republicans destroy government so they can point to the government and say “this doesn’t work, pay me to run it in the private sector and vote for me so I can fix it.” Then they just break more stuff every time Americans are stupid enough to put them back in charge.

So he’s open season then?
