  • What a surprise. I makes me think of the US women treating Eastern Asian women who married western men like whores, victims, or gold-diggers. Many people think about the world locally, not internationally. They apply their ways of thinking to the rest of the world and have trouble understanding that what is normal for me isn’t normal for you (and vice versa). They have trouble understanding that things aren’t always as they seem and making a summary judgement about a person from a short slice of their life, which they can interpret wrong, does not a person make.

  • There have been multiple rumours of Windows 12 being basically EdgeOS and just a gateway to the web with all apps and compute in the cloud. Some articles I’ve read and videocasts I’ve watched say “Microsoft have realised it’s not about the hardware, but the software and selling subscriptions and services”. So, from my very limited and uneducated view, windows 12 would be the perfect vessel for doing just that. But they can only do it if there is good internet in the majority of the world, so my prediction is windows 12 will come in ~2032 or so.

  • AI is a tool and like all tools, it depends on how you use it and who uses it. Not everybody’s a software engineer. I talked to a software architect who was very happy about AI agents because they could design and architect a solution and let it be implemented right there. They didn’t need a software engineer (their words).

Just because you use an AI agent doesn’t make you dumber or make you turn off your mind. After being encouraged to use AI agents at work, I’m come to appreciate that even with them there are vastly different levels of usage.
