Not sure what “intelligence” means in this situation. Book smarts? Certifications on the wall? Knowing that its really easy to take advantage of people when they can be fired for any reason or no reason at all? That with enough money you can pretty much buy your way out of most legal trouble?

Competence is Your Shield: By maximizing your skills, you minimize the number of jobs where you are replaceable and easily exploited. You gain the leverage to walk away from toxic environments.

What? “Maximizing your skills”, is just a rewording of “learn to code.” Competence isn’t your shield, financial security is your shield. When you aren’t in debt and don’t have to worry about bills, you get to walk away from any job at any time, easy as pie. The second you start owing other people money for rent or need constant medical care, its a whole lot harder to just “walk away” from a toxic environment.
