I understand it’s incredibly problematic for a lot of reasons, but the gameplay and ambiance was nice.

Right. I’m just basing it off of the Mexican chefs who claim to be “traditional” seem to consistently insist that cooking refried beans is the “right” way to do it. The alternative to Traditional on cans is Vegetarian, which would make sense if Vegetarian has coconut oil instead of the lard.

A lot of my favorite games get hosed by the internet because it’s easier to latch onto a sentence fragment than it is to explain why you like something. Disco Elysium has “too many communist leanings”. Death Stranding is a “walking simulator”. Dorfromantic is “just plain boring”. Civ 6 “broke too many things that were good about Civ 5”. I don’t care. I enjoyed the shit out of them.

Every time someone says “tatter tots”, it makes me think they’re talking about latkes.

Bugonia is the first Lanthimos movie I’ve actually liked. The end is pretty predictable based on the fact that it’s Lanthimos, but the loosening of his “It’s my movie so you’ll have to accept that this universe has certain unspoken rules that make the characters’ choices seem normal” rule made it easier to digest. You don’t have to take nearly as much for granted as much as you do in most of his other movies.
