Have had a behringer clone for a hot minute and was initially meh on it. Maybe like a year ago o got a noise gate, and a few weeks ago I decided to give the pedal another shot. The gate helps a ton, but also with a unique clean amp and highs slightly dialed down, it works great for my style and is a tone not really heard in the genre a ton!
Just had a lowball offer accepted for a Does It Doom Doomsaw, so upgrading from the behringer. Should be here in a few days, am stoked to jam, and my bands newest song has some black metal moments so really excited to hear it in that context.
Never really liked the hm2 sound, but on top of playing with one, have enjoyed hearing it on recordings more too!
starts up chainsaw
According to Wikipedia, The Chemical Brothers run a Juno 106 through one which sounds bonkers.
Yeah its pretty versatile
This through a Peavey Bandit 112 is
. Sound of every shitty garage metal band i knew growing up.No doubt you’ll find the same setup in crazy expensive studios too
If it doesn’t look like a pawn shop, it’s not a real studio backline.
Teal stripe gang reporting in!
The secret sauce is the Scorpion speaker and to mic it up with an Audio Technica ATM410 instead of the usual SM57 – there’s enough treble rolloff between the speaker and the mic that it tames that harsh-ass fizz. Instant Sunlight Studios sound.
Had both a teal and red stripe during my gear hoarding days. Being able to pick up a new amp for 80 bucks back on the 2000s did some major damage to my wallet lmao.
Just realized I’ve got an old Peavey Citation Mark IV still hanging out in my garage. Some things never change.
Nice! I definitely missed the boat on Peavey back in the 80s and 90s. I’ve heard a lot of good things lately about the red stripe models, ever since boomer guitar YouTubers finally came around on them. I lowkey kind of want one just so I can deface the “With TransTube™️ Technology” badging with pink and blue paint markers.

Nice. My 4x12 has the cuban flag over the grill, but my other guitarist has had the trans flag over his cab during a recent show. I’ve got so much gear at this point, and that was after a big downsizing lmao.
Hotline Miami 2
I think the problem with those sorts of pedals is more the people using them than the pedal itself. It’s all base model Schecters through Bandits with the gain all the way up
ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
The Behringer is surprisingly good for the money, and so is the TC Eyemaster – it’s in the same ballpark. I still keep one in my studio rack rig.
