I never understood why anyone found this shit funny until i realized the joke is that she’s saying something she’s not supposed to say. Technically you could argue it’s anti-authoritarian, except she’s saying these things in the expense of the victim which in reality means she’s punching down. It’s a joke with fascistic tendencies.

There’s another kind of racist joke you can make. The Ćevapi vs kevapi debate for instance. But the joke there works precisely because it is a critique of the absurdities of racism, it’s punching up authentically.

Yeah the late 90’s/early aughts had a lot of mediocre comedians and entertainers coasting on “oooh they’re not supposed to say that” in lieu of actual humor. I think it died out not so much out of political correctness, but rather it didn’t get a rise out of millennials who were seeing much worse on the internet on a regular basis.

This show was extremely xenophobic. As it was considered “humor” back in the 2000s, they could get away with saying the most unhinged shit. I also remember how professional gaming media was rampant with casual queerphobia, blatant sexism, and shameless objectification of women.

Looking back, it’s no wonder gamers were an ideal target for reactionary radicalization with things like GamerGate. By the early 2010s, when this sort of “humor” started getting more pushback, chuds were whining about “political correctness” and “SJWs”.
