Liberals will whine “why do red state voters keep voting for Republicans when they get low QoL out of them!” but then pearl clutch over the idea of having a political system that actually punishes politicians for poor QoL outcomes.
It’s because they equate voting for politicians with democratic process. In their minds, that’s the only way democracy can work. They think that you can keep the government accountable simply by constantly shuffling people in and out of office, even though we have mountains of evidence that the idea simply doesn’t work in practice.
