How would shitty unoptimized games be fixed from some random asshole messing around with bios and driver settings?
The only thing I can think of to make such a change is if your computer was set to a power-saving mode and was just unset from that. Or just overclocking everything so that you have no assurance of stability in the system + a lot more heat.
So, in other words, you will not get his claimed benefit.
You never know, he might be removing spectre mitigations too, probably nets some frames. lol
Probably also disabling Windows’ virtualization-based security (VBS) which is known to have a pretty large performance impact, even on pretty modern & powerful hardware
Another thing I can think of is if his RAM wasn’t set up correctly and was running at a lower clock speed. Is that worth 200+ FPS? Definitely not.
It will just be overclocking, that’s all he’s doing that’ll make a difference. Which like you say, a lot more heat, a lot less stability, and probably opens them up to liability when it breaks half the components within a year (or bricks them immediately if he accidentally turns it up too high).
