A new “clean design” with all extraneous menus and buttons removed!

(Yes, this concept of “control everything through an AI” is just a command line, but worse. But that’s not how the investors see it!)

As a lifelong Linux user, windows is fine.

Linux isn’t for everyone and acting like its end all be all is dishonest as fuck. Let folks use what they use and quit bellyaching about what others choose to use.

As a lifelong Linux user, windows is fine.

You haven’t touched recent iterations of Windows if you think Windows is fine. And why would you? You are a lifelong Linux user after all.

      Windows was fine.

It’s become a nightmare for casual users in many aspects. Even without advocating for Linux, saying the current Windows is “fine” is very far from the truth.

Yeah. My problems with Windows are ideological and geopolitical, not just technical. I am a communist outside the US but still in their sphere of influence. To use a piece of known spyware made by a US company on a device I use to connect to the Internet and talk to other leftists, and to do my hobbyist fiction writing with a leftist bent, is a terrible idea. So I refuse to do so. Plenty of better and safer options that also respect me as the only user and system administrator far more. Do I think I’m important enough for personal opsec to matter? Of course not. Am I going to take reasonable precautions anyway, especially ones that cost me nothing/are good excuses for generally better habits I was going to strive for anyway? Of course I am.

I dont disagree about letting users have choice, but it’s disingenuous to claim that they are choosing if they are only being told there is only one choice and never being shown any of the other options.

literally how is it ragging on windows users? where in this post does it say that you’re bad and wrong and stupid if you use windows?

ragging on the mediocre ad-ridden product of a spyware-making, zionazi-supporting monstrosity corporation is good and based actually and you don’t need to take it personally on behalf of people who use it. hell, windows users themselves complain about it more than we do at this point.

I know that. I’m not saying everyone should have to use Linux or even that it’s often a better option these days (although I do think that’s true, at least for my personal computing needs). I’m just ragging on Windows because it’s done a few idiotic things of late, which I’ve had to hear about because ~99% of my social circle uses the damn thing.
