Here was the transphobic content I was “defending":
But seriously, you guys (cause you’re 95℅ guys lets be honest), arent half as intelligent as you think you are.
“You guys” meant Hexbear. The full context is a little longer and stupider than that (And the user’s comment I was allegedly defending was actually way-out-of pocket aside from the “you guys” part. It was encouraging Hexbear users to commit suicide, but just in a way that had nothing to do with transphobia as far as I can tell.) Anyway that was the “transphobic” part. I suspect that the actual issue was me being extensively rude to Cowbee, and they are lying about what the real issue is and calling things “transphobia” as they often do.
In any case. To quote @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com: “In all honestly it reads to me you’re more upset people are not sufficiently polite in disagreement. Anarchists can and will be rude … Nobody is under any onus to remain polite to spare your feelings”

i worry i’ll be seen as misgendering if I say “you guys” (american English) so my personal bit has been to say “youse guys” (american Italian)
Nobody actually gets pissed at honest mistakes unless you double down. I misgender folks by accident occasionally and all it takes is an oops and enough respect to get it right and everything is cool.
As a red blooded Eastern European I use y’all for my gender inclusive address of choice
i give you permission to use ya’ll instead if you want. but honestly i tend to use “guys” (IRL not online) as a gender neutral term for 2 or 3 people if I am addressing them directly
Start saying yinz
