I think the Nobel’s decision to reward her but “snub” Trump, as well as the Blue Dogs (like fucking Obama) congratulating her beforehand right before she dedicated her prize to Trump anyway, is yet another case of “social” liberals trying and failing to get back the reins of the ship to return to “sensible normalcy”, while still earning the majority favor of the cappies and maintaining the international regime of imperial violence. Between everything that went on from Biden’s presidency onward (arguably earlier), the cat isn’t going back into the bag. The impotency of the mainstream political “left” in Europe and America (save for running incredibly unpopular policies among their own bases) has run its course, and while the right wing dipshits taking over are far from popular, their opponents aren’t seizing the moment when it presents itself, and are hardly putting the effort to lie anymore (compare the first Obama term to the Dems now). If there were a well-funded progressive or social democratic movement not tied to the hip to neoliberalis, it could easily roll over the opposition but the bourgeoisie who facilitate that funding in the first place are by and large supporting one of two camps, not including them.

In a sense, Trump’s victory and his support for like-minded right-wing figures like Machado more or less rang the death knell of social liberalism as a project in the West which the Nobel commission would very much like to see revived. He represents the domineering section of the political and capitalist class which wants to see a transition from sissy things like soft-power status quo, humanism and faux-internationalism into a more aggressive and unabashed form of liberal imperialism and repression, as was standard in the 19th century before labor movements and “soft-hearts” (pragmatists) ruined everything.

Of course, the shitlibs will pout and would much like things going back to their way, but they would prefer to be in perpetual “opposition” in dominant-party right wing states rather than allow the actual Left to grow, at any costs.
