I think Godsmack has music in that Jesus teaches MMA movie, so I think they’d probably be willing to do this.

Come to think of it, Newsboys (“God’s Not Dead”) have done stuff with Trump before, so they might perform. Never mind, I looked it up and I don’t think they’re going to be appearing much anywhere now.

I admit I don’t have very strong opinions on them, I can name like one song from them, I just happen to remember they were on the soundtrack for that one movie: https://www.ccmmagazine.com/news/the-carpenter-film-intertwines-mma-heavy-metal-jesus-in-inspiring-tale/ . I don’t really know how much it means versus just their manager signing off on another licensing deal for an inoffensive movie.

Hilarious movie, by the way. It has an unironic needle drop of “Bodies” by Drowning Pool in 2023. In a Christian slopaganda movie that takes place around the New Testament. Can you imagine that conversation?

That article says Motley Crue is in the movie too, I can’t really imagine them being Christian nationalists either. It’s not impossible since they’re awful people, but still.

I think the last time I really thought about Godsmack was when Ubisoft decided Prince of Persia needed to be more edgelord.

Seriously, the absolute rage at a band for just being mediocre is baffling. They’re not even offensively bad! Just not good!

From what I know (most of which is from a todd in the shadows video) the main problem a lot of ppl had wasn’t that they were uniquely bad, but that they were completely omnipresent, like the benson boone of 00s rock (though I know even less abt him, pretty sure his success is just from the two music radio stations ppl still listen to and thousands of walmart playlists, neither of which I care abt lol)

The fact that they were in between AOR-derived rock for 40yo gnr fans and alt-rock for 20yo slipknot fans also meant that they got played on rock stations for both of them and got mercilessly derided by two notoriously easy-to-anger demographics at once for being on whatever their station was instead of the other’s

Two decades on if you make 5/10 music that can reasonably be classified under like 5 subgenres but not fully belong to any of them either it takes at least 4 yrs until a critical mass of ppl start getting openly tired of it (yes this is abt taylor swift)

Their debut album sounds so much like Alice In Chains’ Dirt, which would be pretty lame if we were talking about anything else, but that’s gotta be one of the best albums from the 90s.
