I am confused about the sheer volume of seemingly illegal actions these fascists are getting away with. The amount of US citizens unlawfully detained, the warrantless surveillance and raids, the refusal to identify themselves, and the clear pattern of violence though indiscriminate physical assault.

Where are the class action lawsuits?

Why are no Democratic politicians calling for ICE’s leadership to be investigated, impeached, imprisoned? Even if Democrats are kinda feckless and racist themselves, surely they’re not as stupid as the Republicans and can see the threat that ICE represents to the economy, if nothing else?

I’m just astonished by the absolute dearth of any resistance to these squads of lead-poisoned idiots who don’t follow any rules and are seemingly only motivated by a desire to hurt people.

Moreover… I want to believe in rehabilitative justice, and if we ever want to see former ICE agents get treatment and re-enter society as productive upstanding citizens, it would be best to stop them before they’re too far gone. Not to make it out like they’re the primary victims here, but I do believe what they’re doing is actively harming themselves.

Some municipal judges have tried to get in the way and failed completely (some others may have succeeded, idk). Lawyers too, of course.

I do think it’s good of you and something the left needs more of to understand that reaction is also often self-destructive and it would be good to rehabilitate people, but of course the absolute first priority is stopping their project. I’m not really sure why self-identified socialists are so frequently giddy to condemn people for life when that’s completely contrary to leftism, even for people that we all dislike and believe need to be stopped by any means necessary. If some ICE people need to die – and even killing them is literally legal in some scenarios, not that what is right is constrained by what is legal – so be it, but that doesn’t mean, in a situation where they have lost all their power and are safely detained, that the thing to do is make them permanent slaves or torture or kill them.

Thank you. Step one to leftism is understanding materialism, this isn’t about mercy or being kind to fascists, it’s about understanding how rehabilitative justice benefits everyone way more than punitive justice.

I empathise with people’s anger, but I do wince and worry about the unbridled bloodlust I often see.

I agree with you. We should try to save and convert as many people as possible, including those Hexbear would consider abhorrent, such as ICE agents. I want to believe that even the most reactionary people, can be converted under the right circumstances. (Which to be fair is much easier said than done im not denying that).

Im not absolving monsters of their crimes but if they can serve humanity in some capacity, isnt that a greater benefit?
