I am confused about the sheer volume of seemingly illegal actions these fascists are getting away with. The amount of US citizens unlawfully detained, the warrantless surveillance and raids, the refusal to identify themselves, and the clear pattern of violence though indiscriminate physical assault.
Where are the class action lawsuits?
Why are no Democratic politicians calling for ICE’s leadership to be investigated, impeached, imprisoned? Even if Democrats are kinda feckless and racist themselves, surely they’re not as stupid as the Republicans and can see the threat that ICE represents to the economy, if nothing else?
I’m just astonished by the absolute dearth of any resistance to these squads of lead-poisoned idiots who don’t follow any rules and are seemingly only motivated by a desire to hurt people.
Moreover… I want to believe in rehabilitative justice, and if we ever want to see former ICE agents get treatment and re-enter society as productive upstanding citizens, it would be best to stop them before they’re too far gone. Not to make it out like they’re the primary victims here, but I do believe what they’re doing is actively harming themselves.
There’s community rapid response networks being set up as early warning systems. There are individual lawsuits, idk if any of them have legal grounds to be class action. And there are some mayors taking strong public stances against them, but those probably could be stronger or made from the comfort of being powerless. Idk if any mayor has ordered the police to not cooperate. LA mayor can’t. Pritzker might be able to but he’s not AFAIK.
National level dems, nah. Probably Omar and Tlaib have.
I haven’t kept track of everything in detail, but Mayor Johnson of Chicago did initially order the Chicago PD not to cooperate with ICE and I remember seeing cops turning ICE away. Not sure what’s changed in Chicago though.

Pig on pig violence, not relevant to their cooperation as far as I know. ICE is going ham on Chicago, two people have been shot, and they have a more serious community warning/ICE tailing groups from what I’ve seen online.
They’re getting more vicious and people are stepping up, but it hasn’t hit a breaking point yet

Yeah mayors’ abilities vary a lot. NYC mayor could 100% do it, at least in theory the NYPD is supposed to basically be the mayor’s private army. Any governor could do something though, mobilize the national guard with instructions to arrest any suspected ICE agent for things like kidnapping or other obvious crimes you see them commit.
In Illinois in particular I’m pretty sure they made it illegal for Gestapo agents to hide their identities, but it’s going totally unenforced because who is gonna enforce it? Get the NG out there arresting every agent wearing a mask, lock them up and throw away the key.
Trump can override any governors order to the national guard. He’s already ordered the national guard to escort ICE and CBP in LA and DC.
He can only do that in specific circumstances like if he invokes the insurrection act. The only reason that order is standing in California is because Gavin Newsome is a [redacted] and doesn’t want to start a constitutional crisis
DC is different since it’s not a state, he does have the ability to do that one.
