The problem is the rails themselves need to be upgraded to handle true high speed rail.
And they’re owned by the freight companies who don’t give a fuck
Edit: Sorry, this is the northeast, so Amtrak owns some of these rails. Point still stands for most of the country.
actually, if you disrupt your mindset and step outside the old, rigid thinking of physics, they are moving negatively away-towards from their destination prime more rapidly, so this is actually a big win.
US train travel just got a whole lot more innovationnated.

Granted, they can get there faster than the old trains if they stopped for the same amount of time. They’ll probably get faster in 6 months to a year as station time is reduced.
