    25 years and presumably billions of dollars later, still goes exactly the same speed because the money went into shiny toys and not infrastructure. Classic america shit right there. Biden put some money into infrastructure but iirc it mostly all went to keeping neglected shit from falling apart rather than significant improvement of the NEC route

      This stuff happens constantly at the municipal scale too. Especially when a department has “extra” budget. It’s earmarked for X type of thing so they go for Y thing and say it is X. Y is some nonsense they have to contract out, usually to their buddies.
