Orwell was a wretched anticommunist who dedicated the end of his life to villifying Stalin and the Soviets and Marxists generally while doing various forms of Nazi apologia.
Chomsky is also a wretched anticommunist, and the book that everyone left-ish person talks about but mostly don’t seem to read was mainly written by the other author, Edward S. Herman, by Chomsky’s own admission.
I truly believe that Orwell become an intentional agitator (i.e. funded and instructed) against socialism by the west as a means to link Soviets and Nazis together as “both bad totalitarians”.
