My “I’m not a fish” hack stopped working and my “try really hard not to hiccup” backup plan is also failing
help
Update: I’m saved thanks to @Aradino@hexbear.net. Keep em coming tho in case of future emergency
Hiccup manually with more intensity to intimidate the real hiccups
I thought it worked for a bit but they came back. Now I look like a fool
You just gotta try harder
I think it actually worked now
My work here is done
Anal stimulation of the Vargus nerve.
breathe in slowly as deeply as you can and hold it, like you would when taking a bong rip.
Yeah usually just holding my breath allows me to get rid of them
Ok, I’ll rob a bank once I’m done with hiccups
By then it’ll be too late!

This paper says a Hiccaway ($20) works 92% of the time
Ah, this was the product i read a paper about. When peer reviewed, it turns out the product works exactly as well a 1cent straw. Or pointedly drinking water. Or even as well as just creating suction in your mouth without anything at all.
Nice
- breathe in deep
- hold it and count to five seconds
- slowly(as slowly as possible) breathe out
this resets your diaphragm which is the thing that hiccups
What seasoning did you put in yesterday’s dinner?
Edit: a mind trick to take your mind off thehiccups but if you know someone’s doing it, it doesn’t work. So questions that make you have to think through a memory help
Woah that could have worked actually. Clever
My friends hate it because it goes like:
A: I have hiccups
ME: Oh cool. By the way what did you tell me about you boss yesterday?
A: long story
ME: thank you, do you still have hiccups?
And it’s gone
eat beans
Hold you breathe as long as possible Chug water Quickly look up and down a few times Swallow Stop hiccupping Watch a screamer
Dude… What in the actual fuck this has basically been my ritual since I was a kid except mine is:
- Take a gulp of water
- look up, water still in mouth
- spin around 3 times
- swallow water
I’ve been told hiccups are related to a low stomach pH. What usually works for me is some variation of swallowing exhale and holding it in. Either hold your breath for 10-15 seconds and then take a decent gulp of water or just hold your breath, blow up your cheeks with air, and then gulp down the air in your mouth to your stomach.
Supposedly, the CO2 gets dissolved into your stomach fluid and forms carbonic acid to raise the pH. However based on this logic, stuff like tums/pepto/milk of magnesia or high pH foods like milk should also be effective at treating hiccups but nothings every worked as good as the breath thing for me.
swallow air and hold it in your throat as long as possible… works for me every time
Dangle upsidedown off the edge of a bed or sofa, then start drinking and swallowing water while upsidedown.
This one always works for me. I place the far side of the glass at my upper lip, and slowly bend forward until im drinking upside down. Works like a charm (or gets water up my nose)
I always did this as a kid, and it ended up permanently curing me of the hiccups. I didn’t have more than 1 hiccup in over 25 years. I had a mild case in the last few years, and I genuinely enjoyed the novelty.
There’s a nerve cluster at the back of your throat that you need to stimulate. I always find that chugging a pint of water, swallowing hard, does the trick
I just keep drinking water at a normal rate until they stop. Works every time. Maybe I’m wrong, I thought the point of the silly water things was to trick children into drinking a bunch of water.
can’t you just slowly drink water? When I have a hiccup, I just do that, and it forces me to regulate my breathing.
