You’re telling me that the country which enslaved people based on their ethnicity, only formally ended that practice 160 years ago (to say nothing of prison labor that goes on to this day), and then ostracized them, brutalized them, and generally still treated them as subhuman through all means legal and otherwise until it was codified into law to be illegal to do so just 60 fucking years ago but still regularly shits itself anytime a piece of media has a nonwhite person anywhere in it…is racist?
