So I kinda wanna do some basic research before taking a deep dive. Until now I have just been doing mono therapy, but some of the results have been … kinda underwhelming?

Facial hair growth has barely slower down despite me using nair.

Functionality down under is still there (except sperm production is gone). My libido is gone. But when I do go for a session I feel like garbage afterwards.

Breast growth has slowed significantly. This is useful for boy modding, but I am not planning on staying the closet forever. Ok, tbh, I can see myself staying there for a depressingly long time. But that’s besides the point.

What I am asking about basically is if taking t-blockers will fix these problems, at least to an extent.

what I have read after much googling of this subject, but didn’t bookmark so cannot share is to wait for Tanner Stage III and then take progesterone to most closely mimic a pregnancy in a developed woman. my goals were specifically boobmaxxing with the prog as i was already receiving the desired mental effects from e but I have a very large frame and hoped for aesthetic balance.

I waited 12.5 months until tanner III and started progesterone (200mg orally) just a week and a half ago and they have already responded noticeably for me in that time, not just in size but in fullness especially towards the center of my chest and above and to the outside edges of the main boob tissue. I’m on monotherapy for about 5 months (IM EV) and the progesterone does make me a little sleepy and weepy.

I have no way of knowing if this is medically sound or just good luck on my part 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve always heard that prog is supposed to help with breast development and shape. I can say personally that since I started prog several years ago mine have developed really well but that could vary from person to person I suppose. I’m not very well-read on the subject

I will say that prog for sure helps me with my libido and puts me to sleep at night when I take it. I’m not sure about its effects on blocking T. I started T-blockers initially and worked my way down with my doctor until I knew monotherapy was going to keep my T levels low. I started progesterone later

As an aside about not feeling great after cumming, I think there’s an adjustment from T climax to E climax - my experience was that, before starting HRT, I used getting off as a big release and distraction from my own dysphoria. It’s a lot harder to ignore those feelings now. I feel like getting off on E can be much more of a process where you really need to gratify yourself psychologically - which can be complicated if your body or gender presentation causes you distress

HRT changes can take a very long time to feel noticable if you aren’t able to get validation from others, which can be hard to find at first. Trans friendship helps so much ♥️

need to get blood testing and get your levels checked, only surefire way to know what to change

also ur post title and post body asking 2 different questions is very confusing x3

theres no reason not to start prog, go for it

as for t blockers, get your levels checked

also how long have you been on E?

at only 6 months everything ur experiencing is to be expected, thats not very long

boobs take years, things slowing down and speeding up is normal

also you should still get your levels checked :p

I’m kinda scared about the legal consequences of getting my levels checked and it being found that i am doing diy. Plus I need a prescription from the GP to get a check to begin with, and would probably need to tell him about me doing DIY.

I’m not sure how much I can maintain my privacy and still get checked. Like, I guess the government knows I am trans cause I did get a referral to a gender clinic (my waitlist number has been going up instead of down somehow. God bless europe and God bless austerity). However, they don’t know about me doing DIY.

Prog doesn’t block or suppress T, research is spotty so it’s not 100% clear what all it does but it appears to affect mood and breast growth at the very least

It takes a long time for hrt to work. I still get random boob spurts after 10+ years hrt. I generally consider at least 2 years of fully effective hrt to be the baseline for most changes.

I was kind of emotionally dead before progesterone, and now laugh and cry a lot more. I’m more expensive and have a wider range. That might just be because I feel better in general, though!

Also it helps with muscle recovery for endurance related exertion if you’re into that.

It just made my tits sore (and larger, but not permanently) and made me very horny which I considered a problem. It can also help with sleep if you’re lucky.

how hrt affects your facial hair is a complete dice roll. my chest and body hair thinned and slowed significantly over the 4 years I’ve been doing estrogen monotherapy but I had to get laser on my face to see literally any reduction. I’m like 15 sessions in now (thanks Lebanese grandparents) and finally get to enjoy a smooth face

I’ve never taken prog, I’m around a c cup. no idea if I should even bother with it at this point

Doctors I have worked with have all been like, “If you want prog, that’s fine, but I’m not sure it will do much.” My own experience has lined up with that - I took it for about 18 months and it just made my tits hurt for a little bit and nothing else.

Of course, as with all HRT stuff, it’s all very under-studied and there’s a lot of highly variable anecdotes and pseudoscience. Some people say it gave them huge tits and crazy libido, maybe that happens for you.
