Hanoi, July 29 (Prensa Latina) A fundraising campaign to support the construction of solar energy systems in Cuban primary schools is underway today in the southern Vietnamese metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City.

The initiative, promoted by the Union of Friendship Organizations and the city’s Department of Culture and Sports in conjunction with several media outlets, was launched the day before at a ceremony held there to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks.

The campaign, which will run until November 30th in the context of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, is a vivid demonstration of the great and enduring friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, said Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

Loc Ha alluded to the numerous difficulties the island is facing today, especially in the energy sector, and urged everyone to join this project imbued with the spirit of mutual love, mutual support, and pure and constant loyalty.

This action, he emphasized, will not only enable students to have better learning conditions, but also demonstrates the international solidarity and solidarity of the Vietnamese people with their Cuban friends in difficult times.

Furthermore, he added, it will contribute to further fostering and deepening the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, built with the blood and effort of many generations and “which has proven its worth throughout history.”

Expressing her gratitude for the sentiments and support of the Communist Party Committee, the government, and the people of Ho Chi Minh City, Cuban Consul General Ariadne Feo Labrada said the event also celebrated fundamental values for humanity, such as friendship, solidarity, and internationalism.

“Vietnam and Cuba are two sister countries that have forged a special, sincere, and mutually supportive relationship in all areas,” the diplomat stated, highlighting solidarity and people-to-people exchanges, which allow “the love between the two nations to grow naturally.”

At the ceremony, broadcast live on Ho Chi Minh City television, the campaign’s organizing committee received the first donations from a dozen organizations, businesses, and individuals totaling more than 1.6 billion dong (approximately $62,000).
