  • The subpoena, which was posted on X by archive.today on October 30, was sent by the FBI to Tucows, a popular Canadian domain registrar. It demands that Tucows give the FBI the “customer or subscriber name, address of service, and billing address” and other information about the “customer behind archive.today.”

“THE INFORMATION SOUGHT THROUGH THIS SUBPOENA RELATES TO A FEDERAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION BEING CONDUCTED BY THE FBI,” the subpoena says. “YOUR COMPANY IS REQUIRED TO FURNISH THIS INFORMATION. YOU ARE REQUESTED NOT TO DISCLOSE THE EXISTENCE OF THIS SUBPOENA INDEFINITELY AS ANY SUCH DISCLOSURE COULD INTERFERE WITH AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF THE LAW.”

Gotta love how the FBI is stupid enough to think that it has jurisdiction over a Canadian company

  • According to the article, Klarna posted a nearly $100M loss in Q1. So I suppose people just keep doing what theyre doing, at the expense of their own credit I guess

Characterizing this as the lender’s fault is kind of silly though. Were talking about people buying door dash and cochella tickets on 0% interest credit. If anything its surprising the lenders are stupid enough to offer that in the first place. If you buy door dash on those terms and dont pay it back on time, its hard to see that as predatory in any way. Thats not remotely similar to a subprime loan on a car or a payday loan

  • So far, the level of similarities between the current era and the depression era are truly insane.

We have: Mexican Repatriation vs the current mass deportations

    Crony Capitalism

A massive real estate bubble that no one is working to cool off

Tariff policies fucking with the economy

Massive speculation in a virtually unregulated crypto industry, fraught with the same schemes that the financial tools implemented after the depression were intended to prevent from happening again

Literally the only saving graces we have at this point are the Fed and the FDIC, or people would have been starving in the street with wheelbarrows full of cash by now

If you asked AI “how to cause the great depression a second time” it would probably tell you to do everything they are doing
