You know, I think people who use this app are genuinely stupid nerds. There are no smart nerds here. I never get these kinds of replies on other social media - even in English on other sites you still get reasonably intelligent people?! It’s like the userbase of Lemmy as a whole, be it Hexbear or World or wherever, is uniquely convinced they are entitled to their incredulity about the world they live in. The same amount of energy it took you to say “wut” would have been taken up by typing “handala group” into your preferred search engine. I put that much effort into having half a laugh.

Google basically built India’s surveillance infrastructure already. Tech industry just plays good cop bad cop, not even for antitrust reasons but for international ambitions in Africa (where the infrastructure remains unconstructed) & areas they have regional competitors, like SEA

I don’t think that people who haven’t engaged with what Delta Chat (particularly Arcane Chat dev ADB) and Graphene OS people have said about Signal should base their views on this in vibe-reads. It’s too technical.
