I used to hear regular updates about the campaign of genocidal violence in Manipur targeting the Kuki-Zo, one of India’s Adivasi groups. But at some point I just sort of stopped hearing news about the Manipur issue, and frankly I eventually stopped even thinking about it amidst this whole torrent of other horrible things going on in the world.

But, unfortunately, the genocidal violence in Manipur hasn’t actually stopped, and with India now standing at the “gates of hell” with escalating violence with Pakistan, I figured it was now high time to revisit the Manipur issue and ask what the current situation is, maybe what can be done about it, and maybe how a potential Indo-Pakistani war in the near future might impact Manipur. Or contrarily how Manipur impacts the rest of India.
