i am not an immigrant so theoretically not in any danger of being deported. ICE has been doing raids around my job site and i suspect we’ll be next. what can i do in the event they do come on site?
Ideally unions should start creating defences and blocking entrance wherever they show up.
Through personal action maybe it would be more effective to try and lure them or sabotage them creatively. Give them false directions, pretend you want to take part in it and waste their time, lock any doors you have keys to. Talk with any immigrants who would be targeted by such an attack before it happens and make a plan so they are prepared to use that time window to escape.
i work with a small crew, all citizens. we are union but afaik most other workers here are not (right to work state). about 3/4 of the workforce left early this morning; ICE was 2 blocks away at another jobsite so i believe a raid is imminent
If you have the ability to - don’t let them into your job site. Lock the gate/entrance-way/park your vehicle in front of it/etc. As iByteABit said - warn any coworkers you know who would be targeted and come up with a plan/way for them to get out should ICE come knocking.
Less serious: shoot them (ICE)
I’m imagining an awesome “home-alone” style jobsite obstacle course.
Climb to the top and start chucking barrels at ICE Donkey Kong style
shit it’s like that anyway lol. way too much shit laying around

ICE
Call the cops and tell them armed gunmen are invading the jobsite
if they happen to have already accessed the job site/property, pretend to cooperate and bring them to whatever portable site office you have.
Invite them in, and as they are sitting down, close and lock the door. Set the portable site office on fire with whatever accelerant you have, making sure that the fire is concentrated around doors and windows to prevent escape
“I can’t believe we forgot to flag off that stairwell hole! Crazy! Also weird that only three of the four corners were cut out of it. MAN He sure fell far eh fellas?”
“they’re hiding in the porta potties. yeah in that one rigged to the crane”
If I saw an ice agent go into a porta potty that thing would be tipped so fucking fast
Spider (Rémi Gaillard)
be in touch with any local activist (or adventurist, fuck it) groups before hand and call them in addition to the stonewalling and misdirection.
Hire armed guards (plural) and tell them not to allow any law enforcement in if they don’t have a judicial warrant (emphasis on judicial). Maybe some additional actions if they are wearing a mask and/or if they are plainclothes.
ICE goes for the low hanging fruit where the people are unlikely to fight back.
Seconding @Anomalocaris@lemm.ee. Additionally, if someone you know or is in the vincinity of is being detained immediately begin filming. Get there name, birthday, and a local contact. Find out what a local immigrants rights law firm is and send them all the relevant details. Publicizing arrests or sharing with your local Migra Watch group will help them notice trends and advocate for people. Having video of the arrest could help in court because procedural violations in the arrest can be used to grant stays of deportation or similar.
Unless you have like 20-30 very coordinated people, dearrest is very unlikely to be successful. Right now, visibility and mutual support is the best thing we can offer to our friends, neighbors, and coworkers being targeted.
Just point to the opposite direction they came from and tell them you think you saw some Hispanic looking people run that way
It’s not illegal to be “thinking you saw something” but it turned out to be wrong though they’ll probably give you a hard time about it
My workplace has put it out firmly, not to communicate with immigration authorities unless they have a warrant signed by an actual judge, those are the only things that give them any pretense to operate. They will try to use a warrant signed by ICE themselves, or otherwise bamboozle their way inside your workplace, once theyre in they have total discretion and can make up any pretense after the fact to do as much snooping as they want. Dont give them any opportunity you dont have to and play stupid if possible.
Do not comply or drag your feet on complying with anything they ask/demand you do.
If you can’t answer a quest with a simple yes/no/I don’t know. Don’t answer the question. Volunteer no more information than you absolutely need to.
Make a list of immigrants rights lawers and local groups. They’ll have better details for your specific area.
Chat with your coworkers to get a sense of who needs to be contacted, family/friends wise, if they are detained OR if they flee an attempted bag’n’grab and might have to hide for a while. Try not to use cell phones/email to make contact. If you need to use those “easy for the state to intercept” methods, be as vague as possible. Avoid using proper names of people or places. Give no addresses or general locations.
i think you demand warrant, listen very carefully to legal gibberish they are saying, if they don’t say court order and show it, it’s all nonsense. don’t let them in if it’s not court . they can say warrant, they can enter if you let them in to show it to you, but you are not obliged to comply unless it’s court order signed by judge. Non-compliance doesn’t mean resistance, legally, tho, you just aren’t obligated to listen to anything they are asking
first source i found, but there were similarly stated things elsewhere https://hrdailyadvisor.com/2025/02/04/know-your-rights-when-ice-arrives-at-your-workplace/
it’s a construction site so from my understanding it’s ultimately up to the owner whether to let them in or not
they will be at jobsite near the gates tho? the person answering the door is the one with the power to open it
