So to be clear, this might be Kaine trying to 4d chess a vote that shows that there is not support for going to war against Iran. If the vote doesn’t pass, the constitution requires that we don’t go to war (don’t laugh!)

Now, if it does pass then things are really bad.

This is assuming that Kaine doesn’t want to go to war. I could be wrong about this because Kaine is shit, but surely not this shit. Maybe?

It’s a gamble, I don’t know how many people like MTG are floating in the swamp out there, but it’s pretty clear she would vote NO on this, which is a kind of wild turn of events for Republicans. There is a growing MAGA Anti-War movement, framing it as “War doesn’t put America First”.

I’d have to go and research. He was on Hillary’s ticket in 2016 and that was around the time that Obama did the Iran nuclear deal so I don’t think so? But he’s an establishment Democrat so who knows what AIPAC has convinced him of

Did a little digging. Doesn’t look like Kaine’s a Bolton-type, but he does seem to be convinced for years that Iran has a nuclear weapons program and somehow it’s the US’s responsibility to stop it.

Interesting to see that, he won a lot of the Muslim / Arab population’s vote in VA because he did the bare minimum when speaking of Palestine
