UNFI is one of (if not the) largest wholesalers in the US and Canada. While health/natural food stores are primarily supplied by it, UNFI also supplies significant amounts of product to traditional grocery operations. This combined with the tariffs and ongoing labor unrest in the grocery industry could cause significant problems with food distribution across the country this summer.

If you have products you rely on read the shelf tag closely. Usually it will say the supplier on them. If you see “UNFI” it might be a good idea to stock up on those products.

I cant wait for all the dumbass liberals pointing at this and saying it looks like communism. Yeah communism creates bread lines (god forbid we have central planning and rationing so that everyone has enough), but under capitalism, after waiting in line, you pay ten times what the bread is worth

  • damn, UNFI is big time.

like, fuck whole foods. I haven’t been inside one of those joints in 15+ years. but UNFI is a lynchpin for a lot of food distribution ranging from big stores at the whole foods grocery scale to like local, small co-op groceries, and even those ultra crunchy buying clubs that the true heads get into so they can bulk buy chickpeas and lentils or whatever severely granola moves the off-the-grid whitehairs are into this season.

their ordering system, flexibility and reliability for delivery is one of those things that I would have taken for granted.

Yeah the shelves are already super bare at all the grocery stores in my town. Entire displays just bare metal with nothing on them. There was an entire empty aisle at Walmart.
