To understand what we’re all dealing with and how the AI sausage is made, I entered the slop mines — to try to make my own AI documentary. I fed a prompt into ChatGPT, which produced a script. I then fed parts of the script into two different AI content platforms, ElevenLabs and Descript. And then cut it all together the old-fashioned way, splicing real-life footage into the film when I ran out of credits and didn’t want to fork over hundreds of dollars. This thing below cost me about $40 to make, with a lot of that money probably flowing to Google and OpenAI.

the ouroslop will consume all lmao

yep, ai is inherently unsustainable. the goal right now is to give it for free to make people reliant only to make it subscription only later, I imagine. I also don’t think we’ll get to the subscription part before it all blows up. if you really want to use ai for something for some reason, use one of the open source models from china

    but preferably just don’t, lmao

i still think fears of it being unsustainable are oveblown (by one lib zitron), if open ai displaces google as search engine of choice, there goes your 700 billion evaluation, easy peasy. just the same their revenue issues, are, on the whole, trivial, oh boo hoo they need 30 billion in revenue? pentagon loses that amount of money in cushions each month, and it’s nothing compared to the scale of tarp program to buoy whole economy, i would bet if choosing between stock market crash or paying protection money to open ai to make charade last a year longer, trump will make an obvious choice.

now, i don’t think it’s a sound business proposition in that any chump can make their ai model run search, bringing marxist rate of profit collapse (due to organic composition of capital) in that specific industry is just out of whack and easily copyable. but that doesn’t mean strategic injection of liquidity won’t save it for an election year or whatever

*400 billion in datacenters is fucking whack, but that’s just tech fashies pissing their own money away to make cat videos apparently and remove “les createurs” out of equation, and who gives a shit about them.

Thanks for sharing this because I have dabbled in AI and like the article touches on it’s a very closed loop with only a handful of corporations controlling what you can see and make, “open” ai my ass. Point is AI sucks and I encourage anyone who wants to use it for personal reasons to look into local generation and not engage with these fuckers charging money and or ads to kill the planet.

I expected (near) gibberish and there’s some. But there’s also stuff like this. At 3:49…

“When people talk about mind control - they imagine hypnosis or coercion. But influence is far more subtle. You don’t need to control what people think. Only how often they think. And in what patterns.”

It’s super-creepy that a AI slop fake person/expert interviewee is saying that.

The slop at Youtube - ALIENS AND THE INTERNET. WHAT THE ELITES DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW!. What scares me is how many people have defective (or non-existent) critical thinking skills. They’ll see a nonsense slop vid like that and say “I knew it! Interdimensional beings are using us!”
