Practically all the seats of power in the Post-Soviet countries are held by those who either supported/didn’t try to prevent or personally made an effort to install a Neoliberal doctrine within their countries. They hate the Soviet Union more than anyone, they are angry that they didn’t get a piece of the Marshall Plan.
The idea that things could have been different and that they could have achieved a genuine status as an independent, communist, superpower, had they not betrayed their people, must be so absolutely infuriating to them, it’s no wonder they will lash out on anyone who dares to suggest that. They are abusers and cowards, liars and cheaters.
They could at least have some dignity and bulldoze Lenin’s mausoleum down at this point, put a WakDonald’s on top of it, so that everyone can see who they really are. Полный позор, блад. Ну что я тут больше могла сказать…
I went to Moscow in the 2000s, and there at least used to be a McDonald’s in Red Square right next to Lenin’s mausoleum.
I’ve been there two weeks ago. In front of Lenin’s mausoleum was a Christmas market and an ice skating rink, so I guess at least that’s marginally better.
However, I also visited the eternal fire commemorating the heroes of the Great Patriotic War:

This fire stands 50m away in a straight unobstructed line from a вкусно и точка, the rebranded McDonalds after the sanctions. Made me wanna cry ngl
