Plus the Daily Beast article mentions they’d subscribed to body modification and scarification communities, so I agree with @Blakey and others that this seems like a rationale (I use that term very loosely) to express an underlying harm kink.

Unsecured bond means that she didn’t need to pay any money, if I understand it correctly.
Yep, only has to pay if she skips her court date(s).
