The government shutdown isn’t just political gridlock — it’s a direct hit on working families. SNAP recipients aren’t lazy. Most do work — they just don’t earn enough to survive. When Congress fails to fund basic programs, it’s not “tough love.” It’s cruelty.
If you’re angry, you’re not alone. We need a government that protects people, not punishes them.

Yeah “”“save”“” SNAP so we can defund Medicaid and basically all other social welfare problems, and then the President will just decide not to fund SNAP anyways even if it ends up in the spending bill.
Like this shutdown is one of the literally only times in decades that the Democrats have done even a miniscule fraction to help working people.
I never once said defund Medicaid or any other social welfare or anything at all.
I know, but defunding all the social welfare programs will be one of the inevitable political consequences of ending the shutdown early. Like I’m not accusing you personally of actually wanting to defund social welfare programs, but this is what will definitely happen if the Democrats give up. (It might also happen if the Democrats get what they want because Democrats are also monsters and therefore don’t want much.)
