I’m probably up to around 100 different packages from the AUR alone. Compared to just typing yay into a terminal

You can go look at the contents of an AUR script (you do right?) for an idea of what’s involved in building a package. 100 different aur packages seems a bit extreme tbh. I would find that a security nightmare.
You can just build stuff from source you know. Or these days many projects ship app images or their computer
