A man who works for the people overseeing America’s nuclear stockpile has lost his security clearance after he uploaded 187,000 pornographic images to a Department of Energy (DOE) network.
Looking at UK data from four years ago, with the exception of a handful of senior managers, the frontline civil servants working in nuclear science in the defence context only earns up to £80k (before location allowances and posting allowances are included). For a state actor with deep pockets, it would likely be well worth the investment to turn one of those employees with the offer of a mirror salary to “assist another project” elsewhere.
