Yeah, came here to post this. You can beat the rap but you can’t beat the ride, and the oinkers know it. You got your butt whooped, run through the legal system, lost time off work or job loss which could even lead to eviction, reputational damage, the fascists get their media cycle showing how they’re not gonna take this disrespect of our beautiful flag lying down! And maybe eventually you get cleared but your life is already derailed.
Just like the McCarthy era. You might have been able to prove you’re not a communist, or that you’re not materially supporting the Soviets and that simply being a leftist is free speech, but the accusation would still have destroyed your life anyway.
