This is some notes on the second half of the video.
Pete says that the thing that bothered him most about his deployment in Afghanistan was that American soldiers were in danger. Yankees go home. It is disgusting that he clearly values the lives of Americans over the lives of non-Americans.
Pete does both sides on ICE deportations. He says that while Trump’s policies are brutal, he also believes that “America needs strong borders”.
Pete says that his 3 greatest accomplishments as Transportation Secretary during Biden’s presidency were (1) safety, (2) infrastructure bill, (3) airline regulations.
Pete says that his biggest mistake as Transportation Secretary was the East Palestine Ohio train derailment. He says that the mistake was misinformation being spread after derailment, about health implications or who was eligible for relief. He does not talk at all about how the derailment could have been prevented.
Right after talking about the the train derailment, Pete says that the second biggest mistake of his term was that there was too many safety regulations. He says that this is what prevented him from doing more projects.
Also, Pete never talks about the 2022 rail strike that he was involved in suppressing.
The last part of the interview, they talk about their family heritage. Pete’s family came from the island of Malta. Andrew’s family is like Irish or Gaelic.
There is an additional interview of Pete at the end of the video where Pete condemns the shooting of Charlie Kirk over a video call. He says that both sides need to come together and then he praises Utah Governor for reaching across the aisle. The Utah Governor solely blamed the left for Charlie Kirk’s shooting and used it as an opportunity to tell people to stop criticizing ICE deportations,
