This is a bit of a rant before I head off to bed but please consider this a comraderadely reminder: Any so-called communist who starts pivoting to this kind of punching down rhetoric should give a MASSIVE :hitler-particles: vibe.
I’m not backing down from that, there’s a reason fascists are most successful when coopting class war rhetoric. Once you lack basic solidarity with people your class consciousness is chipped away like a Welsh stonemason chips away at slate.
The only leftist thing he actually does is oppose the west but without theory and simply on a „is“ level.
He doesn’t even call himself a leftist, neither did contrapoints. Yet both were taken in as left-wing celebrities at some point.
As far as I can tell, not even consistently true.
I thought so but he’s got bad takes on Ukraine which backs up the “without theory” part.
That’s interesting! I’ve been thinking more and more that “leftist” is not even a sufficient descriptor any more than “antifascist” is, because I’ve been disappointed by so many people claiming those terms apply to them and then really not living up to it at all.
He considers ukraine not be western. And Russia & China to be the „same“ as the west.
True. And that has been an issue since the bernie campaign, where american pink leftists intentionally mudded the water what „socialism“ and „communism“ means to trick americans, who „just wanted“ better healthcare yet still support the empire, into communism.
My point was that Contrapoints and him NEVER even self-identified as leftist, which is like the bare minimum.
Incoherent, none of these countries are western and only one is aligned with the west. Some of these streamers really turn ignorance into an Olympic sport.
