I turned around on Guild Wars 2 and am almost to the Path of Fire expansion on my elementalist. For whatever reason, attunement swapping makes more sense to me than weapon swapping. There’s a fractal event going on rn that has legendary gloves as a reward and isn’t very much work. It’s also a beta test for their LFG/queueing system more like WoW and other MMOs. I hope it gets expanded because it still kind of sucks, but honestly not having a queueing system sucks too because MMO players do not have the patience or social skills to work solely with a group advertising system.

Also, I posted about this in the general megathread, but check this shit out lmao:

This was a random guild I joined, did a few fractals with, and farmed their home instance. So no loss. I was in the middle of typing something about all the horrible stuff he said, but they kicked me too quick and I had the thought later I shoulda just banged out a fast “another kkkcracka down” before they got me. Might have had my Guild Wars 2 messages reported to the Freedom Police though.

Gamers are never beating the allegations of being scum of the earth (sorry to everyone else in this thread). I think MMOs are another genre (along with FPS/competitive games) that has a ton of people like this because most of them are so old that the remaining players grew up with them were terminally online teenagers that never grew out of the 4chan mindset. I think the average age of MMO players is like 35 now. If you go even older, to like Final Fantasy XI or Everquest, it goes up to the 40s and you get the Facebook boomers still talking about “blue haired liberals” in 2025.

“I left the left because the US might slaughter numerous humans daily but one white influencer getting murked is just one too for me. Nobody deserves that (unless they’re Palestinian/Russian/Chinese/Hispanic/Black/LGBTQ+/poor)”

That sucks, I’ve met some good people in GW2, and definitely the gamer chuds too. What’s terribly ironic is that the developers themselves incorporated explicitly anti-facsist messaging into the Icebrood Saga, and if chuds had a shred of media literacy they would be boycotting it for being mega-woke.

    • GW2 had such a lovely community, I really do miss the early years. My friends and I still play it regularly and the amount of vitriol that gets passed around randomly is just depressing. I know for a fact they don’t moderate anything and only take action once something is mass reported enough; the same people are still spamming slurs in the PvP lobby chat for years now.

Moderation is a huge problem on games that are essentially in maintenance mode. Its the situation with Lord of the Rings Online, but thats even worse since it has a global chat. There’s like 5 people who still work on it regularly and they also run DDO so there’s essentially no moderation team anymore and they’re really lightly handed because they don’t want to lose their passive revenue.
