Honestly the reveal kinda sucked though. Like they could have made contact whenever, presumably had access to data from captured ships, were content to apparently kill planets of people. A ship full of megahitlers and the captain’s like “Oh Noooo I killed 7000 people to save hundreds of millions nooooooo. Nooooo I put an end to a galactic menace and gave closure to aggrevied people but the horrible mass murderer’s were human noooo” (meanwhile aliens around presumably making this face yikes-1yikes-2yikes-3 )

Also somehow isolated maniacs with a tiny population can develop technology beyond the capabilities of a whole bunch of unified species?

that’s for the libs in the audience.

They went to the dark corners of the edges of space and stole shit probably from peaceful aliens.

“Empathy isn’t conditional” I mean sure in the sense that it’s an automatic response but like how much precedence you give to someone’s feelings is absolutely conditional on their willingness to coexist.

Anything else is pathologically paralysing. Oh shit someone is running at me with a knife going “I am going to skin you, eat you, and kill you. In that order.” but wait, is it right to run or fight? I mean whomst among us can say whether my feelings or their’s matter more. These are deep philosophical questions.

There’s some intensely stupid stuff on trek sometime.
