anyone here see all 5 of the original planet of the apes?

i went in knowing nothing about them, i just really like apes and monkeys so it’s always been on my list. i loved them. 5 being my least favorite but the series as a whole is now one of my favorites. i didn’t know there would be themes of class war, slave revolt, animal exploitation, anti-war, none of that. i thought it was just a movie where apes talked and humans were their slaves.

and how do yall feel about the reboot? i’ve only seen the first one, years and years back before i ever watched the originals.

a lot of people seem not to like the later original movies, but i loved them. 4 was incredible. this speech goes so hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osQqp_8ATS0

i’ve seen the originals, never really watched the reboot. i might give it another chance.

during the making of the originals, changing in and out of costume was a big pain, so the ape actors would eat lunch in costume. and when they did, they tended to sit together: gorillas with gorillas, chimps with chimps, orangutans with orangutans.

it’s the kind of thing that gets talked about along with the stanford prison experiment, like it’s a demonstration of some natural human tendency to racially segregate, rather than being a reflection of the class society the actors grew up in, and the class society presented in the film, which is itself a reflection of the class society the actors grew up in.
