i’ve been to traverse city. it’s not large, but it’s like the sort of smallish-coastal town with a shitload of short term rentals, because summer time is tourism season and it’s proximate to a lot of recreational shit. the township where this happened is like the sprawly suburban appendage of T-city with like trailer parks and shit. so probably where many of the people bringing tourists their fudge and cleaning up after them live, but also a good amount of detached single family homes for the managers and landlords to be nearby, and even some farmland under likely severe development pressure.
the perfect location for a super walmart, where class tensions can simmer.
Its the Midwest of america, we have nothing except the remains of Scandinavian culture 150 years removed and the osmosis of east coast (we wish it was west so bad tho) for our main culture. T-city is a hip way to say Traverse City.

Traverse City, if I had to guess
