    This might actually turn out to be healthy - by increasing the cost of soda and reducing the amount people drink. Corn is subsidized to shit in a way that sugar aint.

      Mexico has the highest rate of Coca-Cola (and soda overall) consumption in the world so it must not make an impact on affordability. And for those who think cane sugar is healthier- Mexico has a higher rate of diabetes than the US.

        Yeah the diabetes rates in the region of Chiapas and the neighboring region of Guatemala are so bad. And the people in the region are often chock full of Mayan ancestry if not literally calling themselves Maya and speaking their ancient dialects and barely speaking Spanish 500 years after Cortes. The aftershocks of the colonialism run deep.
