In a weird way, there’s a crumb of truth in that. Like, it’s not uncommon for diagnoses to spread within families or social networks. For example, 1) One person gets an autism diagnosis, 2) Parents, other family members, and friends learn more about autism and what being autistic is like; they start seeing signs and symptoms in themselves, and 3) With that information, more people learn they’re autistic and try to get assessed
That being said, everything in OP’s article indicates that this report is hateful, regressive, transphobic bullshit. Shame on the UN for their role in this.
Absolutely, that is the exact thing I’m alluding to. When people feel societal pressures ease against who they are, people are more comfortable being open about it. Or they might feel more comfortable considering that things might not be the way they thought. Someone else in the thread brought up being left handed and how they would teach people to write with their right. We all know what happened when that stopped.
But yeah, there is a certain thread of hate that shouldn’t be ignored here. Trans-exclusionary radical feminism disgusts me in a particular way whenever I see it. It’s a worse version of class warfare and it just seems entirely selfish and obtuse to me.
