I wouldn’t say it’s a Latino thing, more so the countries they come from have equal rabid anti-communism and when they get to America they can blame all the faults of their struggle on communists and of course, with that “community”, the internet offers jews as well. He really was a cool guy until his brain turned into sludge.

At least that’s my theory. A lot of Latino coworkers I had here would get upset at the mention of socialism or communism. In the same coin, the oldest, most “chud” looking types actually turns out to be a pretty rad dude.

Not so much Puerto Rico but many other central american countries got significantly more dangerous and poorer when they started exploring communism. usa would pump the far right with weapons and do black ops for them while the communists tried to resist. The people who fled to usa blamed the communists. They told stories of the ebil commies, first just to gain sympathy from americans and later to signal that they were “the good ones.” but over time and generations they came to really believe their lies.

That makes a lot of sense. Why did they blame the communists? I suppose I could see a parallel there with police being brutal assholes and some people in the U.S eagerly agreeing/advocating for it. Same thing there? Or just a desperation for security?

They blame the communists because they were one side of the conflicts and the other side was supported by their new home, usa. Can’t talk shit about your host’s friends if you don’t want to get tossed out.
